Joseph E. Jammer

I have earned a B.A. degree in Theatre/Cinema from Texas Southern University. While earning my degree I was a member of the Texas Southern University debate team.  I began my professional career with The Ensemble Theater located in Houston, TX.  I worked with the educational component of the Ensemble Theater touring Texas area schools.  After graduating with my B.A. in Theater, I accepted a position in the touring production of "Our Young Black Men Are Dying An No One Seems To Care."  I have both lived and worked in New York and San Diego California.  In San Diego I performed the role of Paul in John Guare's "Six Degrees of Separation" at the Hahn Cosmopolitan Theater.  Since my relocation to Dallas, Tx. I have performed in productions such as "A Soldier's Play" by Charles H. Fuller for Soul Preparatory Theater Company where I was nominated for the Leon Rabin Award for the 03-04 season by the Dallas Theater League for "Best Supporting Actor" for my portrayal of CJ.  I have taught children’s theater with the San Diego Junior Theatre (the oldest continuing children’s’ theatre program in the country) and Junior Players in Dallas, TX.

After my relocation to Dallas, Tx. in 1999 I worked for the Dallas Public Library in the Dallas Public Library Children's Center. I have enjoyed great partnerships with the Dallas County Community College promoting literacy as a volunteer in the African American Read-In and have served the Dallas community as a committee member for Tulisoma (South Dallas Arts and Book Festival), Partners for Children Dallas, Dallas Independent School District, Head Start of Greater Dallas, Big Thought/Thriving Minds and various public libraries in Texas..  I have more than a decade of experience working with children and studying the allure and application of storytelling.
