"What we teach children to love and desire, will always outweigh what we teach them to just do."

Jim Trelease author of "The Read-Aloud Handbook"

Lyndale the Literary Lion

was created to convey literacy and character education skills because according to the 2005 National Center for Education Statistics report, "Two-thirds of students who don't learn to read proficiently by the end of the 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare."

According to Childrens Defense Fund Cradle to Prison Campaign "Studies have shown that children who do not get the early intervention, permanence and stability they need are more likely to act out and fail in school because they lack the skills necessary to succeed."

So, this is JammerTime's way of trying to break the cycle and beat the odds by introducing children in a fun interactive way to an inspiring literary experience. More importantly, Lyndale helps to break down the barriers children erect when adults are trying to teach. First the children laugh, then they learn that books and reading are COOL.

" when you get little children excited about books, you are building within them a lifelong habit." Augusta Baker http://www.sc.edu/library/socar/uscs/1993/baker93.html
